Chlorella is microscopic unicellular green alga belonging to Chlorophyceae of Chlorococcales. Cells are reproducing by autospores and no sexual stage and ubiquitously distributing in the aqueous environments. Cells can be easily cultivated, so widely use as the tools for biochemical studies. Since their high protein, chlorophyll, fiber and chlorella growth factor contents, they are used as functional health foods for humans. This book describes Chlorella’s ecology, cellular structure, mass culturing, and application according to the author’s experiences. This book is also a comprehensive guide book for microalgology and a useful manual for mass cultivation.
