Grab, Bite and Swallow
吃是什麼？進食就是最基本的一件事，和呼吸一樣，就是活著。
我喜歡看各家文學裡，細細描述料裡用餐的片段，想像厚度薄得恰到好處的雲片糕（老殘遊記），或者煮一餐義大利麵的過程（發條鳥年代記），還有抄寫過葛楚與戀人在巴黎的用餐日記（愛麗絲‧B‧托克勒斯的自傳）。那些即使是表面的文字內容依舊可以讓我在片刻身陷其境，無需過多解釋，人對食物的印記(imprint)是共同的。
Eating?
Having food is one of the fundamental things on our surviving checklist. Just like breathing, it’s about keeping us alive.
I enjoy reading the description of food consuming in different books, which sentences are full of details. I would imagine the Yun-Pian-Gao
(square-shaped white glutinous rice-cake), each piece of cake is just as slight as ideal to taste
(from
“The Travels of Lao Can”). Or the whole paragraph of how the character was cooking spaghetti
(from
“The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle”). And I've transcribed a section somewhere in my notebook, that writes about Gertrude and her lover’s dining diary in Paris in Paris
(“The Autobiography of Alice B.Toklas”). Even they’re just a few words, they could bring me to experience the moment. We could share the mood without explanation, the imprint of food is mutual for human being.

民以食為天，瀑布在第六期也以FOOD（食物）為題，募集來自世界各地的作品，向大家展現新鮮生猛、秀色可餐的攝影集。書中創作者的年紀幾乎均為二十代，來自不同的生活背景與地域，以年輕的目光捕捉他們生活中關於「食」的這件事。這本書回歸瀑布創刊號的原則，著重在影像作品，以直覺式的閱讀經驗為主，連結感官刺激與人對食物的本能。
