想要學好、說好英文，了解英文成語是很重要的一部份，因為以英語為母語的人士在說和寫英文時常會使用成語。英文成語多采多姿又有趣，而且成語告訴我們許多英語母語族群的文化。然而，成語有時比較難理解。
這本書經過特別設計，使你能快速而充滿樂趣地學習三百則英文成語，以及在不同情境下的使用方式，你將會自然地增進說英文和理解英文的能力。而且，當你了解更多美國文化，你就可以更輕鬆地和美國人交談並認識他們。
每一章在一則有趣的對話中介紹五則新成語。對話中使用自然的口語英文，並藉著呈現美國人在不同情境下的應對方式，增進讀者對文化內涵的認知。
接著，英文成語都附有意義解釋。三則句型是為了增進口說的流暢。其後的２則成語練習是為了測驗學生對成語的理解以及運用能力。
本書每五章後有一個閱讀元單元，以一篇有趣的故事運用前五章介紹的所有成語。故事後並附有五個閱讀測驗題。
